Writing An 8-Paragraph Comparative Essay Outline Without Effort
One of the best ways to make sure that you write an effective essay is to create an outline. It will allow you to organize your ideas in a logical order. You want to be able to present the information in a way that enhances the piece and enhances the similarity or difference. You will be comparing two subjects. You can write this paper about two different books that you have read or two programs designed to increase productivity.
When choosing a topic, you will have to make sure that you put your concentration on comparing or contrasting two different subjects. You will have to make sure that you choose topics that are comparable. Make sure that you incorporate these ideas into your outline.
This is where you will introduce both of the ideas that you will compare with each other. You will need to also include any background information for both that may be needed to understand either of the topics. You should also include your thesis statement which will be the main focus of your paper.
Six Body paragraphs
The body of the paper will be broken down into six paragraphs.
- First point of contrast for first subject
- First point of contrast for second subject
- Second point of contrast for first subject
- Second point of contrast for second subject
- Third point of contrast for first subject
- Third point of contrast for second subject
You will need to add transitions when switching from one point to the next because that will help your reader understand where you are going with your paper. You want them to be able to follow along. In your outline, you should add transitions because you want to focus on connecting one idea to the next. You want to connect the main points and not just the last idea you discussed, so adding transitions to the outline helps you do this.
When you are writing the conclusion, you will want to make sure that you reiterate the main points of your paper. This is your last chance to make a point so it will be important to make sure that you restate your thesis. Make sure that you don’t present any new ideas in this paragraph. It should only discuss what you have already discussed in your paper. It is the lasting impression that your audience will have, so make it good.
